BUILDING STUDENTS' SPEAKING SKILLS THROUGH STORYTELLING TECHNIQUE AT SMK PUTRA BAHARI KOTA TERNATE

This study aims to build students' speaking skills by using storytelling
technique. In this study, researchers used quantitative research methods. There is
one independent variable, namely the dependent (storytelling technique). Data
collection technique is to use the test. The test consists of Pre Test and Post Test.
The subjects of this study were 20 students’ in class II Farmasi SMK Putra Bahari
Kota Ternate. Through calculations using the experimental design formula Pre
Test and Post Test. From the average value of the pri test of students' speaking
ability, it was obtained 41.4. While the Post Test the average value of the students
was 67. The results of the analysis using df = n-1 obtained the value of the two
tests is 16, 208. Researcher can conclude that the increase in students is very
significant in several stages of the tests conducted at SMK Putra Bahari, Kota
Ternate.
