Thisstudyaimstodeterminestudents'learningmotivationinstudying
English.Themotivationofthisresearchisdividedintointrinsicand
extrinsicmotivations.Thisstudyusesaquantitativedescriptiveresearch.
Theresearchpopulationisclass2Aand2B.Thesampleofthisresearchis
class2Bconsistingof23students,withtheinstrumentsofobservation,
questionnaire,interview and documentation.In conclusion,Students'
LearningMotivationinStudyingEnglishatSMPAl-Qur'anPutraBahari
KotaTernateinclass2B ismoreinfluencedbyextrinsicmotivation
(1,199.98%).Basedontheresultsofmyresearch,generallythestudents
ofSMPAl-Qur'anPutraBahariKotaTernatedonotyethaveawarenessin
thelearningexperiencesothattheintrinsicmotivationofthesestudents
islow,asweknowthatingeneralEnglishlearnersarestudentswhoarein
thecategoryofinstrumentalmotivation.thereforetheextrinsicfactoris
moredominanttospurstudents'enthusiasm forlearningwhileintegrative
motivationisnotcomparabletoinstrumentalmotivation.Thismotivation
isthereasonwhystudents,especiallystudentsofSMPAl-QuranPutra
BahariKotaTernate,hasintrinsicmotivationthatisnotcomparableto
extrinsicmotivation.
