SUMMARY
Soil quality is the ability of the soil to function to maintain plant
productivity, maintain and maintain water availability and support human
activities. Tobololo sub-district, one of the sub-districts which is located under the
foot of the Gamalama Volcano, this area has vegetable plants that are very
influential on the soil quality index in the area. This study aims to determine the
index of soil quality in the development of vegetable crops, to determine the
parameters that affect the index of soil quality. Field research uses survey and
identification (boring) and profile methods. Determination of soil quality index
using the 10 Minimum Data Set (MDS) method with limiting factors and relative
weights of soil quality indicators.
The results of the study obtained that the soil quality index (IKT) value in
the development of vegetable crops in the tobololo Vilage ranged from 34-40 with
an average IKT of 37,2 which is classified as a moderate soil quality index. Soil
indicators that affect soil quality include soil porosity, soil cation exchange
capacity (CEC),wet saturation (KB), nitrogen nutrients (N-total),potassium
nutrients (K-total),C-organic soil phosphorus nutrients (P-available) and fauna
diversity index, soil quality index management is carried out through the
provision of lime, organic fertilizer and N,P and K fertilizer.
