STUDENTS’ DIFFICULTIES IN WRITING ESSAY AT THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE EDUCATION STUDY PROGRAM OF KHAIRUN UNIVERSITY

The problem in this study is what are the difficulties of students in writing essays
in the English Language Education Study Program at Khairun University. The purpose
of this research is to find out students‘ difficulties in writing essays. The method used
in this research is a descriptive qualitative method involving 10 students in the six
semester of class A collecting data using a written test. The results of the study also
showed that there were no respondents who got the very good category because their
writing score were below 90-100. One respondent got a good score (80-89) while three
respondents got an adequate score (60-79) four respondents got a bad score (40-59) and
no respondent got a very bad score (00-39) it can be concluded that students able to
write well because the students is quite capable and understands how to write.
